Publication ethics and editorial policy

1. General Provisions

The editorial policy of the journal " Otorinolaringologìâ" is based on the principles of academic integrity, objectivity and high standards of medical research. The publication adheres to the recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) to ensure transparency and quality of scientific publications.

2. Ethical Obligations of Editorial Boards and Editors

  • Publication Decision: The Editor bears full responsibility for selecting articles to be published, guided solely by scientific value, relevance to the community, and originality of the work.
  • Objectivity and Impartiality: Submissions are evaluated without regard to the race, gender, nationality, or political views of the authors.
  • Confidentiality Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, or the publisher.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials from a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s written consent. They must recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.

3. Ethical Obligations of Reviewers (Double-blind Peer Review)

  • Objectivity and Timelines: The reviewer must provide an objective critique within the agreed-upon timeframe. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable.
  • Identification of Misconduct: The reviewer is obliged to notify the editorial office of any detected plagiarism or substantial similarity between the manuscript and previously published works.
  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

4. Author Ethics

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit only original works. The use of others' text, data, or ideas without proper citation (plagiarism) or the simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple publications is a serious violation.
  • Data Reliability: Data manipulation, falsification, or fabrication is unacceptable. Authors must be prepared to provide raw data upon the editorial office's request.
  • Authorship Criteria: All individuals listed as authors must have made a significant intellectual contribution to the research. All participants must approve the final version of the article.
  • Ethics of Medical Research: Studies involving patients must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. The text must explicitly state that informed consent was obtained from patients and that the study was approved by a bioethics committee.

5. Corrections and Retraction Policy

The editorial board is committed to publishing corrections (errata), clarifications, or retractions of articles in the event of significant errors or ethical violations. The retraction procedure is carried out in accordance with COPE guidelines.

6. Plagiarism Policy

Every manuscript submitted to the journal " Otorinolaringologìâ" is subject to mandatory screening for borrowed content using specialized plagiarism detection software (StrikePlagiarism).
