Archiving and Long-term Preservation Policy

1. General Principles

The editorial board of the "Otorinolaringologìâ" journal adheres to a full Open Access policy. We recognize the importance of preserving scientific achievements in the field of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery for future generations; therefore, we guarantee the perpetual storage, integrity, and accessibility of all published materials.

2. Repositories and Storage Platforms

To ensure reliability, the journal utilizes a multi-level deposition system:

  • Official Journal Website: Full-text versions of articles in PDF format are available in the "Archive" section immediately upon the release of the issue.
  • Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: Electronic copies are transferred to the "Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine" collection.
  • National Repository of Academic Texts (NRAT): Materials are deposited in accordance with the state standards of Ukraine.

3. Technical Means and Identification

  • DOI (Digital Object Identifier): Each article is assigned a unique identifier through the Crossref system, which guarantees a permanent link to the material.
  • LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Systems: The journal utilizes these systems for distributed storage of content across a global network of libraries. This guarantees data recovery in the event of unforeseen circumstances at the publishing house.
  • Data Formats: The primary storage format is PDF/A (the standard for long-term archiving). Metadata is stored according to the XML/JATS standard to ensure machine-readability.

4. Availability Guarantees (Self-Archiving)

Self-archiving is permitted and encouraged to facilitate scholarly exchange and increase the visibility of the research:

Postprints (Publisher’s Version): Authors are free to deposit the final PDF file in their institutional repositories, ResearchGate, and other scholarly networks, provided that a mandatory link to the original publication on the journal’s website is included.

5. Policy in the Event of Publication Discontinuation

In the event that the journal ceases publication, all archived materials will remain available via Open Access through the LOCKSS/CLOCKSS servers and national library collections
